Rahbord Energy: Abbas Karimi, the CEO of Kharg Petrochemical has elaborated his company’s strategy to realize this year’s motto “surge in production “. Karimi, who was speaking during the 28th Tehran International Oil and Gas Show said Kharg Petrochemical is a unique company and 100% of its products are exported. He said all the foreign exchange obtained from exports have been sold in Nima system.
Karimi noted that in 2023-2024 financial year, the records in terms of production and sale during the recent years was broken. He expressed hope to reach a new record in the 2024-2025. He said KPC complex relies on sour gas feedstock the provision of which has fluctuated in recent months. But according to Karimi, if the feedstock is received normally, the company will be able to make new records.
With regards to developmental projects, Karimi noted that a time-table has been prepared and the projects have been prioritized. He said the first and the best project that has been considered for implementation is the project to convert methanol to synthetic ethanol. The project has a capacity of 300 thousand tons annually and its feasibility study has finalized. Karimi said the company is in talks with licensor to start the project this year.
Karimi, who is also the KPC’s Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors further said a series of domestic revamp projects is also on agenda and two such projects will be implemented this year to boost production.
With regards to environmental projects of Kharg Petrochemical, Karimi added that good projects were implemented in previous years. He further vowed to continue in the same path and upgrade wastewater treatment unit.
He also referred to that the implementation of citric acid unit beside the synthetic ethanol unit as priority value chain projects in Kharg Petrochemical.
He concluded by saying that the company’s development project include the establishment of Kharg Petrochemical market research unit. He said the company is seeking to conquer new markets to attract new customers.
